And so it begins

JJN 3I’m a new student in the Web Development program at Francis Tuttle Technology Center. There is no doubt that the web is where we come to be connected in one way or another. I’m excited to learn how to create powerful, useful websites that are user-friendly and visually appealing.

Thirsty for knowledge, hungry for inspiration and ready to have some fun is a part of this experience.

While watching the movie “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” I loved the way the opening credits were displayed.  They were blended into the signage on roads, walls, bridges.  They looked real, not just created.  Signage was used throughout the film to further the thoughts of the main character, Walter.  It just felt very fresh and interesting to me.

Quoting from The Honest Reader:  The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

    1. “Treatment of text: From the opening credits, text is placed throughout the film and if you don’t pay attention, you might miss it.  When Walter first takes off on the plane, watch for all the phrases – it’s a familiar quotation that pops up throughout the movie and keeps the Life motto in the front of your mind.”
    2. “Film style: It’s a beautiful movie.  Because a lot of the storyline is based on photography and capturing that moment, it’s just pretty to look at.  And again, the opening credits are a testament to how clever the art of the film is.  Just watch the colors if you don’t believe me.”

I want to be able to incorporate a variety of styles and imagery into my work.

Please feel free to share your passion, insights or resources.

Edit: I just posted my first comment to the above blog and typed my first line of HTML code and linked it back to this post. Yea.
